Voluntary U-Belong Student Research Assistant

Across the U-Belong project, we have created a number of specific opportunities for students to engage in our research, from our Fellowship Scheme to our Student Research Team and Student Ambassador Team. As part of a funded research programme, we have limited resources to recruit students in paid roles. We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm that students have shown for our work. We do not want the funding constraints around our project to act as a barrier to providing students with an opportunity to join and learn from our team.  

Therefore, we have developed a voluntary research assistant role. This is not a paid position. We hope that it can provide interested students with research experience alongside their other commitments and is designed to provide considerable training and development opportunities.  

The role of the U-Belong Student Research Assistant will be to: 

• Develop a resource to help students in a specific area of the social experience.  

• Conduct a review of existing resources provided by universities and charities and evaluate their strengths.  

• Conduct a literature review to identify and report effective evidence-based strategies or interventions to improve the social experience.  

• Collect, compile, and thematise stories and top tips from students online. 

• Produce and pilot the campaign.  

• Promote the campaign across the student community.
